RADIATE is a modern nuclear safety case toolbox developed with the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (UKNNL). It brings established radiological modelling capabilities into a simple, web-hosted environment, helping the nuclear industry assess airborne radioactive hazards, model potential human impact and make informed decisions across multiple safety cases.

Assess risks from airborne radioactive material by estimating expected radiation dose and accounting for long-term exposure from nuclides absorbed by the body.

Model near-field radiological effects using a modern implementation that replicates legacy HAZCALC capabilities within an accessible, web-hosted environment.

In the field

Nuclear safety cases have long depended on modelling tools built decades ago. Many are limited in range, run on operating systems that are no longer supported, and behave as black boxes — difficult to validate, and increasingly unsuitable for modern safety cases that must assess radiological and chemical hazards together. RADIATE rebuilds those established models in a web-hosted environment, verified against existing HAZCALC data and approved hand calculations. Safety teams can run a scenario and have results within minutes — supporting tighter margins on safety cases, reduced Emergency Planning Zones, and siting decisions for Advanced Modular Reactors.
