Key features in SCIM
Sensor connectivity
Interfaces to sensors and decodes data from sensors. Data filtering algorithms allow bandwidth preservation while providing detailed sensing data immediately to the software for presentation and further analysis.
Sensor monitoring
Analysed data from sensors shows the current status of connected sensors and provides sensor control: off, online, mode, settings, etc. This provides the operator with awareness of any malfunctions or maintenance issues such as consumables that are running low.
Logging
Continuous storage of all sensor log events and archiving of log data. Logging of sensor data is essential to facilitate further analysis after the event and enables lessons to be identified and learned.
Alarming
Provides alarms to notify systems and operators, and submits reports to Knowledge Management applications and software. The ability to communicate alarms automatically, with confirmation from a human in the loop if required, removes the risk of errors in reporting and enables timely warning of those at risk.
Operationally fielded
Bruhn NewTech sensor integration solutions are in operational use with several naval forces throughout the world which includes Spanish, Dutch, Belgian and Italian Navies. The solutions are also used on reconnaissance vehicle platforms used by nations such as Sweden, Netherlands, Bulgaria and Denmark.
Vendor independent
SCIM® interfaces to any sensor from any manufacturer. More than 50 sensors have been interfaced already and additional sensors will be integrated on request. As customers often combine sensors to find the best mix for their requirements, a single vendor-independent monitoring system is preferred as the best possible solution.
Communicating sensor data
The system allows collection of sensor data and formatting of that data into standard CBRN messaging for further dissemination via most built-in communication applications. The software enables the capture of sensor data that can then be transmitted for further investigation. SCIM® is future-proofed as it allows any sensor or instrument to be replaced or added as technology advances.
Sensor simulation
The training software CBRN-Sim is available for simulation of sensor data output. This provides a cost-effective alternative to fulfilling the requirements of operator training. The application can simulate alarm and fault readings from any sensor to allow realistic operational training.
SCIM® is short for “Sensor Connectivity Knowledge Management” and is a software hub, providing sensor connectivity to multiple sensor types and brands presented on a single, effective display. In essence, it is the ‘glue’ that binds all data together from multiple devices into a single, easy-to-display window. This creates a less complicated human-machine interface (HMI) for the operator to control.
